Mexico cartel gang warning to supporters

A FORMER police chief has warned Scotland fans to be on their guard at the World Cup as host nation Mexico is riven with gang warfare.

The country is in the middle of a murderous conflict between the government and drugs cartels.

Graeme Pearson, who was director general of the Scottish Crime and Drug Enforcement Agency, fears fans could be caught up in the violence or targeted by crooks.

He says crime groups at home could also travel to Mexico posing as fans and use the cover of the World Cup to make deals with cartels.
