LOUISE: LEELA & MARY ARE FARM FRIENDS

EMMERDALE star Louise Jameson thinks her character is similar to the one which catapulted her to fame 50 years ago.

The 74-year-old actress was Doctor Who's companion Leela in 1977 and fans of the long-running show still cite that Tom Baker era as the best.

Louise now plays Mary Goskirk in Emmerdale and has just signed a deal to do another year.

She said: "I actually think that Mary, the character that I play in Emmerdale, and Leela are very similar.
