Ibrox legend Souness says sporting director can't be trusted with next big transfer kitty
GRAEME SOUNESS claims his old club will be taking a major gamble if they allow Rangers chief Kevin Thelwell to oversee their January transfer spend.
The Ibrox legend has delivered a scathing verdict on the ex-Everton director of football, who was tasked with rebuilding a broken squad when he was hired over the summer.
But his disastrous appointment of Russell Martin blew up after just 123 days, leaving behind an imbalanced group lacking leaders and goals.
With Martin gone, the Ibrox support have turned their fire on sporting director Thelwell and in particular his decisions to hire his son Robbie to a key scouting position and sanction the £8million signing of striker Youssef Chermiti, who has so far contributed just one goal.
The Gers faithful made their anger loud and clear during last week's Europa League loss to Roma as they told him where to go.
