Ex-Jambo Danny pleads for last-day home match and potential title decider v Rangers

- ROSS PILCHER

HEARTS hero Danny Grainger has urged the SPFL to stick with tradition and give the league leaders a home fixture to end the season - setting up a potential final-day shootout with Rangers.

Scottish football? It’s always been Celtic and Rangers and maybe you've got a Hearts, an Aberdeen or a Dundee united waiting for a Scottish Cup Final and that's what they're working towards.

The Jambos ensured they will remain top of the Premiership pile over the international break thanks a 1-0 victory over Dundee at Tynecastle on Saturday.

Danny Rohl’s men then thumped Aberdeen in the evening kickoff to maintain the three-point gap and leapfrog Celtic into second.

The champions had no answer for their rivals, going down 2-0 at Dundee United on Sunday, leaving them five points adrift of top spot and clinging to their title hopes.

United's victory, coupled with Falkirk’s defeat to St Mirren, means the top six can't be confirmed just yet. It's understood the SPFL is keen for all positions within the top six to be finalised before sorting out the fixtures.

Traditionally, the leaders have played at home on the final day.
