Robert's husband Kev, who he married in prison, is making his presence felt in Emmerdale. Actor Chris Coghill fills us in

Emmerdale newcomer Chris Coghill is no stranger to taking on sinister roles but his latest character might be his most complex yet.

The actor - known to soap fans as evil EastEnders paedophile Tony King - plays recently released dangerous criminal Kev Townsend, who Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) secretly married in prison.

The vulnerable yet psychopathic character will throw a spanner in the works for Robert and Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller), just as fans were ecstatic over the reunion of the couple they have lovingly dubbed Robron.

"Kev is unhinged," revealed Chris, 50. "He's an incredibly dangerous person. Kev wouldn't have any qualms about physically attacking anybody, apart from possibly Robert."

However, while Kev is definitely dangerous, he loves his husband and wants to be with him.

"There are genuine feelings there but they're not quite what they should be," explained Chris.

Viewers saw Kev arrive in September and Robert's sister Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) also knows about the marriage. However, Aaron is in the dark until he spots Kev and Robert sharing a kiss next week. Then comes the second bombshell, Kev is dying.
