Goodwin: United flops must sort heads out

FRUSTRATED Jim Goodwin admits there is a major mentality issue within his Dundee United squad that needs to be addressed.

The Tannadice boss watched his stuttering side come off very much second-best against Falkirk at the weekend.

Inconsistent United have picked up results against Hearts, Hibs and Aberdeen this term but come unstuck in games where they should be targeting wins.

“That's a mentality thing” Goodwin insisted of seeing his side slump to a 3-0 home defeat against the Bairns.

“You have to be able to do both sides of it, whether youre an underdog going into a game or favourites.

“We haven't been able to deal with the expectation that’s on us in games like the Falkirk one.

“It's areal concern and something we have to fix really quickly. We're trying to put our finger on how to do that.

“We have a really good, talented group of players but we have to sort out the inconsistency in the group”
