AN EMOTIONAL Jesy Nelson told Wes Streeting it is madness not all babies are tested for the muscle-wasting disease her twin girls have.

Spinal muscular atrophy means the former Little Mix pop star's eightmonth-old daughters will probably never walk, according to medics.

A £5 blood test, if done at birth, can spark vital treatment to effectively cure the condition but delays lead to irreversible nerve damage.

Some 33 babies a year need a wheelchair because they are diagnosed too late, while at least 16 children born with SMA since 2019 have died.

Jesy's girls Ocean and Story were diagnosed when they were just six months.
