Horrors of Aberfan haunt me

ONE of the last survivors of the Aberfan mining disaster has told how she is still haunted by the tragedy, 60 years on.

Mair Morgan has vivid memories of the accident that killed 116 children and 28 adults in the Welsh village.

The former teacher can still remember the face of the little girl with "beautiful black curly hair" whose body she had to identify.

A 25-year-old Mair and her colleagues had to confirm the names of the dead Pantglas Junior School pupils before parents were informed.
