Gaza student seeks route to a better life

Qusay Al-Reqeb was a star pupil before the bloody conflict with Israel shattered his dreams, destroying his home and leaving him facing a daily struggle to find food and survive with his family.

But the 20-year-old, who has been living under a plastic sheet on a Gaza shore for eight months, has been given a life-changing opportunity to study computer science at Glasgow University.

After scraping together the £30 application fee, he has made a heart-wrenching appeal for help funding his studies.

He told the Record: "I finished high school in July 2023 with a 97.4 average, which is excellent. I was a top student and aspired to continue my studies, but the war broke out and shattered all my dreams.
