Falkner was 'surprised' by Sandie ruling

AN employment tribunal ruling on the Sandie Peggie case is “unusual and surprising”, a former UK equalities chief has warned.

Baroness Falkner, a crossbench peer who was in charge of the Equalities and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) until last month, said “on the face of it” the judgement appeared “not to be compatible” with a landmark UK Supreme Court ruling in April.

“If you decide that you're providing a single-sex facility, then you cannot allow any biological males into that facility,” she told BBC Scotland.
