Director gets nine-year ban for breaches

NEVILLE Taylor, 57 was banned from being a director for nine years last month for "repeatedly subverting the insolvency system".

- BY MARK McGIVERN

The director was paid almost £270,000 to sign up more than 400 companies in a scheme masterminded by John Irvin, the boss of Atherton Corporate Ltd and other financial firms, based in Largs, Ayrshire.

The Government's Insolvency Service, which looked at 12 sample companies, found Taylor "made little or no attempt to verify information relating to their affairs, including securing records and assets, breaching his duties as a company director and subverting the insolvency system in the process".

The Daily Record told in September how seven companies linked to Atherton were shut down by the Insolvency Service, which is desperate to halt the growth of these "company rescue" operations.
