Former Fettes headmaster protected known paedophiles, Girls treated as second class and racism into 21st century

SEX attacks were allowed to take place for decades at a posh private school, according to a damning report.

Lady Smith, chair of the Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry, said a former headmaster at ex-prime minister Tony Blair's school protected known abusers. And there had been a “shameful” failure to protect pupils.

Lady Smith yesterday published her findings in relation to residential care at Fettes as part of an overall case study into Scottish boarding schools.

Up until the end of the 80s the school had “basic” living conditions with minimal oversight from staff, she said.
