'Bit of a legend' Adam urged Westley to take opportunity

JOE WESTLEY has revealed that a chance meeting with former Dundee skipper Charlie Adam helped persuade him to sign for the Dark Blues.

The Burnley striker put pen to paper on a three-year deal at Dens earlier this week.

Westley admitted it had been a whirlwind few days for him since he found out about Dundee's interest, including bumping into Adam, whom he knew from their time together at Turf Moor.

The former Scotland star, who finished his career playing for his hometown heroes, insisted moving to the City of Discovery was an opportunity Westley simply had to grasp.

The 20-year-old frontman, who could make his Dundee debut against Rangers, said: "Charlie was the loan manager at Burnley two or three years ago, so I worked quite closely with him when he was there before he left for Fleetwood..

"He was back at Burnley last week as this move was happening and he spoke to me about Dundee.
