Princess is moved as she meets veterans at poignant ceremony
THE Princess of Wales spent time hearing brave veterans' stories as she led the nation in remembrance on Armistice Day yesterday.
Kate, 43, dressed all in black and wearing two poppies, laid a wreath at the National Memorial Arboretum, which commemorates all Armed Forces deaths since World War II.
Among the veterans she met was 101-year-old Alan Kennett, who was in the RAF on D-Day in 1944 and who officially started the VE Day 80th anniversary parade in London this May.
Greeting the former airman, Kate said: "We meet again." Speaking to Alan, below, about his war memories, she said of her son: "George will be very jealous," adding: "These stories bring it all home to all those children."
Kate hailed the memorial, in Alrewas, Staffordshire, a powerful spot for "personal reflection".
