NEW goalkeeper Mark Travers has declared that he wants to push Jordan Pickford as hard as he can with an ambition to get on the pitch in competitive matches for Everton.

Statistics compiled by evertonresults.com show that Pickford’s 120-game spell between his debut in the 1-0 home win against Stoke City on August 12, 2017 to the 2-0 defeat at Southampton on October 25, 2020, is the fifth-longest period of consecutive league appearances in the club's history after Neville Southall (212); Tim Howard (210); Cyril Lello (141) and Jack Taylor (122).

But Travers, who joined the Blues for £4million from Bournemouth last Tuesday, insists he won't be content with just sitting on the bench.

‘The 26-year-old made his Everton debut in the 1-0 defeat to Blackburn Rovers and said: “Jordan has been very good.

“He's had a really good stint at Everton and the amount of games he’s played and the level for both club and country has been very high.

“So, it will be great to work alongside him. I'm coming in here to push and compete with him, and everyone wants to be on the pitch and everyone has that ambition.

“I'm just excited to come into this new environment and push and work as hard as we can together”
