HERE WE GO'S TOM BASDEN, KATHERINE PARKINSON AND JIM HOWICK TELL YOLANTHE FAWEHINMI ABOUT THE NEW SERIES

The generation game

WHEN he's writing, actor Tom Basden draws inspiration from his various comedic influences.

However, when it came to British sitcom Here We Go, the Londoner looked to the members of his own family who he describes as "funny" and "ridiculous".

The 44-year-old Ballad of Wallis Island star says he was also inspired by The Simpsons and other family sitcoms which have storylines that are a "little bit more out there... whilst still being rooted in reality".

So when Tom started writing season three of Here We Go, the sitcom which he also executive produces and stars in as downtrodden character Uncle Robin, set out to tailor the storylines for both the characters and the actors.

In the new seven-part series, the audience is welcomed back into the chaotic Jessop family home as they navigate the ebbs and flows of life, settle into new jobs, celebrate wedding anniversaries, go on a big family holiday to Malta, and figure out how to use a smart lock.

Mum Rachel, played by Rivals and The IT Crowd actress Katherine Parkinson, 47, starts her new life as a therapist. Whilst dad Paul, played by Sex Education's Jim Howick, 46, starts a new job as a police constable.

As Uncle Robin and his wife Cherry (Tori Allen-Martin) prepare for the arrival of their baby Atlas, Amy (Freya Parks) is still figuring out life in her twenties. Gavin & Stacey's Alison Steadman who plays grandmother Sue, has also moved back into the family home, and Sam (Jude Morgan-Collie) is back, capturing everything with his handheld camera.

Here Tom, Katherine and Jim tell us more about what to expect from this series...
