Sir Kenny urges Fenway to help boost squad

SIR Kenny Dalglish has urged Fenway Sports Group to back Liverpool in the transfer market if Arne Slot wishes to strengthen his squad this summer.

The Dutchman has led the Reds to the Premier League title in his first season in charge, with Sunday's 5-1 thrashing of Tottenham Hotspur clinching the championship.

Slot worked with a predominantly inherited squad after succeeding Jurgen Klopp, with the £10m arrival of Federico Chiesa from Juventus proving to be his only signing so far. Meanwhile, Thiago Alcantara, Joel Matip and Adrian were the only senior departures from the Liverpool squad last summer.

The Reds are expected to be more active this year when the window re-opens, and have already agreed a £29m deal with Valencia to sign Giorgi Mamardashvili.

Liverpool are also expected to be in the market for at least a new centre-forward and left-back, while a number of Slot's current players - including out-of-contract vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold - continue to be linked with moves away.
