SISTER'S STATEMENT BLASTS PARENTS WHO ADMIT ALLOWING DEATH OF 'EMACIATED' 32-YEAR-OLD

- By ALEX HICKEY, ELEANOR BARLOW PRESS ASSOCIATION

'She was left to fade in the most inhumane way possible'

THE parents of a woman who died in an emaciated state left her to "fade into insignificance", a court has heard.

Steffie Davies, 32, was found dead by paramedics who were called to her home in Wrexham in May 2023, Mold Crown Court heard on Wednesday.

Her parents, Alan and Bernita Davies - both 60, admitted causing or allowing the death of their daughter, who had anxiety and rarely left the house.

Ms Davies was "almost skeletal", with pressure sores and joint contractures which would have prevented her from eating or drinking without assistance, the court was told.

Andrew Jones KC, prosecuting, said she had dirty matted hair, with possible lice eggs in, suspected fungal infections on her skin and the bed she was found in was "sodden".

In a statement, Ms Davies' sister said she had shown potential at college, where she studied animal care, but her anxiety grew as she got older and she found it hard to leave the house.
