Report lists catalogue of failures and says pupil safety is ‘serious concern’
A NORTH Wales high school dogged by problems has received a damning inspection report and been placed in special measures.
Flint High School has been impacted by strikes by teachers over concerns about bullying and pupil behaviour.
Estyn Inspectors visited the school last November - and were met by protesting parents. They have now released their report into the school.
They say the school is not providing an “acceptable standard of education” It lists a catalogue of weaknesses - from failing to ensure pupils are safe to fractured relationships between staff at all levels.
They have made six recommendations to improve the school and have put it into special measures. To support the school through this period of improvement, James Forber has been appointed as Interim Executive Headteacher across Flint High School and Connah's Quay High School.
Flintshire council said that since the inspection, immediate action has been taken to address the most serious safeguarding concerns identified by Estyn.
The report said: “In recent years, the senior leadership team has failed to provide Flint High School with adequate leadership. As a result, the school does not provide its pupils with an acceptable standard of education.
