School building locked down after chef with knife chased a father

A SCHOOL building was put into lockdown after a knifeman chased his victim following a dispute over their children. Peri Johnson strayed onto the school playing field.

Staff at an afterschool club had become aware of the incident and decided to lock down their premises. Police later arrested Johnson, 29.

Yesterday, a judge at Mold Crown Court branded his actions as “utterly unjustified” after taking the knife onto the streets, pointing out it was his third such offence in about six years. He jailed Johnson, of Ffordd Pennant, Prestatyn, for 12 months for possession of a bladed article in a public place.

Prosecutor Will Griffin said the victim Liam Richardson's eleven-year-old son had been playing in fields in Meliden near Prestatyn on June 24 last year. There was an incident between the boy and Johnson's stepson, aged nine, the court heard.

Later Mr Richardson posted a message on Facebook warning the defendant Johnson that “whatever had happened should not be repeated”, said Mr Griffin. Mr Richardson then went to Johnson's home in Ffordd Pennant.
