THE A494 between Ruthin and Mold is a scenic route that cuts through the Clwydian Range. But the winding route can also prove deadly with a number of serious crashes and fatalities in recent years.

One danger spot is near the Clwyd Gate and just this spring a biker lost his life on this stretch.
There have long been calls for improvements on the route to try to reduce the number of serious incidents.
Now Welsh Government has confirmed investment plans for the road in the Clwyd Gate area.
This will include the installation of new warning signs, road markings and hazard marker posts at the summit of the road to warn drivers of people walking, cycling and horse riding in the area.
