North Wales driver Elfyn shows he's a master of the winter conditions

Rally Sweden proves snow bother for victorious Evans

Elfyn Evans and co-driver Scott Martin in action in their Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 in Umea, Sweden Elfyn Evans and Scott Martin celebrate victory in Sweden at the weekend

ELFYN EVANS proved his mastery on snow as he claimed first place at Rally Sweden.

The Dolgellau driver led home a top-four lockout for Toyota on round two of the World Rally Championship.

He finished 14.3 seconds ahead of teammate Takamoto Katsuta with fellow Toyota drivers Sami Pajari and Oliver Solberg coming home third and fourth.

This is the second year in succession that Evans and co-driver Scott Martin have won the WRC’s only pure winter rally and their third Swedish success in total.

That makes the Welshman one of the event's most successful drivers from outside the Nordic countries, as he matched the number of victories achieved by Toyota teammate Sébastien Ogier as well as Kenneth Eriksson and Tommi Mäkinen.
