MUM FEARED HER SON SO MUCH SHE KEPT KNIVES UNDER HER BED

COURT TOLD HE'D CONTROLLED VULNERABLE 68-YEAR-OLD FOR TWO YEARS BEFORE SHE CONTACTED DOMESTIC ABUSE HELP GROUP

A vulnerable mum was so in fear of her controlling son she kept knives under the bed, a court heard.

The mother of James Roden contacted a domestic abuse help group in January this year after being controlled by her son for more than two years.

The group called the police. Roden, 38, of Dee Park, Holt, Wrexham, admitted one charge of engaging in a controlling behaviour in a family relationship and was sentenced at Mold Crown Court yesterday.

Maria Masselis, prosecuting, said Roden’s mum was 68 years of age at the time and suffered with complex health conditions, including limited mobility, so she was barely able to leave her bedroom, and was also mentally vulnerable.

Roden went to live with her after being released from prison in 2022.
