McCain: Maximus can make it three

RACING Donald McCain was impressed by I Am Maximus as he set up the chance to emulate the Grand National exploits of Red Rum, on what will be the 50th anniversary of Rummy's historic third Aintree triumph.

Next year will commemorate five decades since Red Rum became the only three-time winner of the world's most famous steeplechase, but with I Am Maximus already becoming the first horse since the incomparable Merseyside hero of the 1970s to reclaim the prize, connections now have their sights set on their own piece of Aintree history.
