DIGGERS MOVE IN TO POPULAR BEACH CAR PARK TO CLEAR A CHASM CREATED BY WIND

DIGGERS were yesterday clearing mountains of sand from a car park at an iconic Anglesey beach.
Visitors at Traeth Llanddwyn had been forced to drive through mini canyons of windblown sand in parts of the 350-space facility.
The car park is amongst the most popular in North Wales as it fronts onto a 3.5-mile stretch of pine-backed sand with views of Eryri and the Llŷn Peninsula.
Sand accumulations are an ongoing problem and site manager Natural Resources Wales (NRW) has said the car park may not be viable in the long-term.
Over the past decade, around 60 metres of dunes have been lost from the site during winter storms.
