HIT AND RUN DRIVER CLAIMED CAR LATER FOUND ON FIRE HAD BEEN STOLEN

A “HIT and run” driver whose car was later found on fire lied to police and claimed the vehicle had been stolen.

Shaun Davies was involved in a collision with a woman’s vehicle, but she noted some of his registration number and told police.

Later that evening, Davies’ car was found on fire, and had damage consistent with having been in a crash. The 48-year-old, of Bro Brwynog, Treuddyn near Mold, admitted committing an act with intent to pervert the course of public justice.

A judge at Caernarfon Crown Court sentenced Davies to do 200 hours of unpaid work to make up for diverting a fire crew to the blaze.
