The Red Dragons, backed by actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac, splashed out nearly £33million on new signings last summer to build a team capable of competing in the Championship. The results have been positive so far this campaign, with Phil Parkinson’s side currently ninth in the table, just two points shy of the playoff spots.

Wrexham have yet to bring in any new recruits in January, but are expected to be active towards the end of the window as they seek an unprecedented fourth consecutive promotion. However, football finance expert Dr Dan Plumley believes they need to be careful not to spend too much or else run the risk of breaking the EFL's profit and sustainability rules (PSR).
