Charity launches bursary to tackle ATV farm deaths

Announced during Farm Safety Week, the nationwide scheme covers the entire cost of industry-accredited training and includes a high quality Logic helmet for each participant.

Delivered in partnership with Lantra, the Farm Safety Foundation says this initiative is designed to “upskill agricultural workers” and “reduce the number of serious incidents” involving ATVs on British farms.

It comes as the latest Health and Safety Executive (HSE) figures reveal that ATVs were the biggest single cause of work-related fatal injury in agriculture, forestry and fishing in 2024/25, with seven fatalities including two children.

‘The bursary is open to anyone currently working in agriculture or studying at a land-based college or university in the UK. Training topics will range from pre-ride inspections and health and safety checks for new riders; to advanced manoeuvres and terrain navigation for more experienced operators.
