A CAVING enthusiast was flown to hospital after an underground zip-wire snapped at a notorious slate mine in Eryri (Snowdonia).

Colleagues climbed out from the mine to raise the alarm when the casualty fell on rocks.

Visitors to the Croesor-Rhosydd complex near Blaenau Ffestiniog face a series of obstacles such as the "Chamber of Horrors" and "Bridge of Death". Billed as an "epic adventure" for self-led explorers, the mine is the most rescued underground location in North Wales.
