A55 assessed for damage after bus fire

THE full extent of the damage caused by a dramatic bus fire on the A55 is becoming clearer as officials warn speed restrictions will remain in place while the structural integrity of the road is monitored.

The massive fire took hold on Tuesday afternoon, triggering hours of traffic gridlock between Broughton and the Posthouse Roundabout.

A Welsh Government spokesperson confirmed on Wednesday that the bus came to a halt at the end of the Junction 36a on-slip.

While the fire itself was extinguished, the aftermath required a complex, hours-long recovery operation.
