A case of compassion over concern re rehab centre plans

A COUPLE of weeks ago I attended a public meeting called by the charity Adferiad Recovery (formerly known as Cais) to outline plans for a new drugs and alcohol treatment centre close to my home.
The charity announced plans to purchase the former Blind Veterans UK convalescent centre in the Craigydon area of Llandudno, and the centre's main hall was packed to the rafters with people concerned about the implications of having recovering addicts being housed in their neighbourhood while they underwent treatment.
There is a retirement complex in the grounds of the building, and its residents were understandably fearful that they could be placed at risk. Others living nearby also had similar concerns.
