Unemployed doctors protest for job opportunities in KwaZulu-Natal

A GROUP of unemployed doctors gathered outside the Natalia Building yesterday, calling on the KwaZulu-Natal provincial government to create job opportunities for qualified medical professionals.
Representatives from the KZN Unemployed Doctors Committee said that more than 200 qualified medics were struggling to get work due mainly to budget constraints with the Department of Health.
Yanga Mbhele, a member of the committee, voiced the frustrations of the doctors, some of whom have been waiting for years for their skills to be properly utilised.
“This issue has persisted for far too long, placing even more strain on our healthcare system,” said Mbhele.
“Employed doctors are stretched thin, coping with excessive hours and overwhelming patient numbers.”
