Best scalie action ever at Tugela

THE weather's shifting, the dust has settled, and summer is knocking hard on KZN’s door!

The Midlands just got its first proper spring/summer thunderstorms - 5 to 15mm of rain gave the thirsty ground a little drink. It’s not enough to push the rivers yet, but make no mistake — those floods are coming, and when they do, the bite is going to absolutely erupt.

Right now, the rivers are running skinny. Trout are lying low on the Mooi and Bushman’, waiting for that flush, while the Umngeni is holding steady with a few solid browns tucked into the deeper runs.

Water temps are hovering around 16°C - just waiting for that next push of rain to flip the switch. The “Trout Gods” are watching closely.

But here’s where things get absolutely nuts... the Scalie action at the Tugela right now is probably the best we've ever seen! We're talking schools of yellowfish stacked up, hitting flies and keeping rods bent from sunup to sundown.
