Warning over pension compo hold up

WASPI women are ready for a court showdown with the government over pensions compensation, the head of the campaign warns.

Angela Madden, who chairs the Women Against State Pension Inequality group, says millions of 1950s-born women will not give up their fight for payouts.

Department for Work and Pensions failures meant the decision to increase the state pension age for women was not properly communicated.

Some women were plunged into poverty after being unable to plan for the future as a result.

In 2024 the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman recommended MPs immediately set up a compensation scheme.
