Latest Nissan car helps safeguard 37,000 jobs

THE latest Nissan LEAF model rolled silently off the production line yesterday - and helped secure 37,000 UK jobs.

A new LEAF will be made every minute at Nissan’s plant in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear.

The Mirror watched as swarms of workers huddled around the shells of the EV36Zero car to carry out checks.

We met senior supervisor Jamie Williams, 36. He said: “My dad worked here and now I am part of making the latest model.

“It is a pleasure and an honour; we know what this means for tens of thousands of people who work in the supply chain.”
