Railway worker, 85, clocks up 60 years of service

- SASKIA ROWLANDS

BRITAIN'S oldest railway worker has been in the job six decades and choo-chooses not to retire.

Remarkable Siggy Cragwell, 85, loves his work as a station assistant and has become so popular passengers have even invited him on holiday.

He began working on London's train network in 1962, while steam trains were still running, and continues to rise at 4am each morning for his 6-11am shift.

The pensioner, who came to the UK from Barbados as part of the Windrush generation, said: "I remember that I [arrived] on March 7 and started working on March 8. It was a bit strange as it was cold here - and we didn't have trains in Barbados, so I'd only seen them in films.
