Family fury after 'scumbags' steal boxing champ's statue

A LEGENDARY boxer whose bronze statue was stolen from a park would have knocked out the thieves who took it, his grandson has said.

Four masked people dressed in black were caught on CCTV pulling down the statue of Teddy Baldock - who became Britain’s youngest world champion when he won the bantamweight title in 1927 aged just 19.

His grandson Martin, who led a four-year fundraising campaign to put up the statue, was devastated by the theft.

He said: “What would my grandad think of the statue being torn down by four scumbags?

“It wouldn't have happened in his time because he was hero-worshipped.

“He'd have knocked them all out.”
