PUTTING THE FAMILY FIRST
Daily Mirror UK
|May 15, 2025
EVERY parent knows how hard it is to get back to work after having a new baby. Separation, childcare nightmares and logistical challenges can be horrendous.
But mums and dads at Vodafone are celebrating after the telecoms giant launched its 80/20 Parental Leave Campaign - allowing retuning parents to work only 80% of their hours for six months on full pay. Abby Bonner, 28, from Stoke-on-Trent, sings its praises.
What do you do?
I am an operational support specialist in consumer sales at Vodafone UK, working in the call centre. I started at Vodafone six years ago and I currently focus on people management and supporting the in-house sales operation.
What do you love about it?
I absolutely love my role, especially working with people.
Being a manager and helping others succeed and reach their full potential is incredibly rewarding, I thrive on the energy of the call centre and the inclusive culture we've built and continue to develop every day.
For me, it doesn't feel like work. I walk into the office every day with a smile on my face, knowing that what I do is for my son and that I get to go home to him every evening, This makes my job even more enjoyable.
What are the challenges?
