Fugitive 'stamped mum to death as she walked dog'

A FUGITIVE living “off grid” to evade police murdered a mum-of-six in a vicious attack as she walked her dog, a court heard.

Roy Barclay, 56, had been sleeping rough for two years when he allegedly targeted Anita Rose, 57, as she took her springer spaniel Bruce out for a stroll last July.

Ms Rose suffered “numerous kicks, stamps and blows” to her face, head and body on a footpath by a sewage works in Brantham, near Ipswich.

Ipswich crown court heard yesterday that Barclay was on the run to avoid being recalled to jail.
