Man who knifed girl, 11, detained indefinitely

A MENTALLY ill man who repeatedly stabbed an 11-year-old girl in a random knife attack has been detained indefinitely.

The child, who cannot be named for legal reasons, felt blood running down her face and thought she was going to die when targeted by Ioan Pintaru in London's Leicester Square, a court heard.

Pintaru approached the girl as she left the Lego store with her mum on August 12 last year, got her in a headlock and stabbed her eight times in the face, neck and chest.
