Notorious inmate will not attend hearing

- BY PHIL CARDY

CHARLES Bronson has vowed not to attend his next parole hearing as he is convinced he has no hope of being released.

In a call to a friend, Bronson said he has as much chance of tasting freedom as a chocolate teapot has of surviving a second brew.

Bronson, who has spent nearly 50 years in jail and now goes by the name of Charlie Salvador, is at Long Lartin high security prison in Evesham, Worcs.

He was first locked up for armed robbery in 1974 and his sentence has been extended repeatedly due to further violent incidents.

Last month the judicial Parole Board said Bronson's next hearing will be in private.
