Croatia, Panama & Black Stars in group

- BY ANDY LINES Chief Reporter

FIFA made hard work of the draw, but England should find Group L of next year's World Cup a lot more straightforward.

In confusing scenes at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, the Three Lions were drawn against Croatia, Panama and Ghana.

Fans were happy with the outcome and bookies agreed, installing Thomas Tuchel's side as second favourites for the title behind Spain.

Scotland supporters face a tougher task at their first World Cup in 28 years, with five-times champions Brazil, 2022 semifinalists Morocco and minnows Haiti in Group C.

England superfan Neal Weekes said: "The draw was shambolic, chaotic and hilarious at the same time. It was so confusing.

"That was the main Fifa set-piece TV event of the past four years and it should have been organised so much better. But we know what we are facing now and I think the draw could have been much worse. I was at the game when we played Panama in Russia in 2018 and Harry Kane scored a hat-trick - let's hope it's the same again."

Auctioneer Neal, 60, from Greenwich, South East London, will be travelling to the World Cup with Fill Sollof - the pals' seventh tournament together.
