Fighting to turn tide on rising water costs

With bills set to rise again next month, experts weigh in with easy ways to help

Water bills are going up again next month, despite the ongoing outrage over sewage spills. Regulator Ofwat confirmed bills in England and Wales would increase by an average of 5.4%£33 a year which comes hot on the heels of last year's increase of 20%. It pushes the average annual water bill to £639.

"Unlike phone, broadband or energy providers, there's nothing you can do to shop around for a cheaper supplier," says Greg Marsh, CEO of money-saving tool nous.co. But there are still ways to save.
