Schar blasts lack of creativity as toothless Toon fail in front of goal again

- BY ROSS HEPPENSTALL

FABIAN SCHAR did not miss the target after Newcastle fired another blank in the absence of wantaway striker Alexander Isak.

Deep within the bowels of rain-lashed Elland Road, the centre-back was honest enough to admit that Eddie Howe's frontmen had flopped.

Granted, Isak was nowhere to be seen against Leeds as he continues his attempts to force through a move to Liverpool.

Fellow forward Nick Woltemade was not registered in time to play following his £69million club-record move from Stuttgart.

And Schar could not hide his frustration at Newcastle's winless start to the season.

The Swiss defender said: “We need to try and create more chances. We didn't create enough to score goals and it's something we have to work on.

Now it's time to improve, create more up front and score more goals but still be solid like we have been.”
