TROPHY HUNTER: Warrington ace Currie is only focused on landing silverware
BEN CURRIE has learned to live with the pain of Tackle 52 and can even smile about it now.
But the Warrington loose forward can’t contemplate losing another Challenge Cup final - so big favourites Hull KR are warned.
It was 2016 when the England international went down in the competition’s folklore for all the wrong reasons.
Shrugging off Hull FC’s Marc Sneyd (now a club-mate) and Mark Minichiello in the 78th minute at Wembley, he seemed destined to score a glorious try that would hand Wolves the trophy.
But Danny Houghton produced a stunning cover tackle - his 52nd of the afternoon - to dislodge the ball and Hull held on to finally win at the stadium for a first time.
Hooker Houghton, who retired last year, has rightly dined out on the feat ever since and even had a beer named after it.
Ahead of facing Rovers in today’s showpiece, does Currie feel the need to do something extra special so people stop asking him about it?
