Vignola nets historic treble on Toffees debut as Reds get what FOUR

- BY JASON MELLOR

ORNELLA VIGNOLA admitted she was still in shock after taking her place alongside Everton royalty with a Merseyside derby debut hat-trick.

The South American-born Spain youth star became the first Evertonian since Dixie Dean to bag a treble against Liverpool 94 years on from the legendary striker's feat.

Vignola (with her player of the match award, far left) helped to turn Anfield blue, but the 20-year-old admitted: "I don't know how I managed to do that. The first goal was probably my favourite of the three, and what a way to start the league season. The crowd was unbelievable."

Everton teammate and compatriot Martina Fernandez added: "Ornella is an unbelievable player. She's good with the ball, fast, strong and a really good defender as well. She really has everything."
