BIG CAT RESCUE

LIONS who lived in terror amid Russia's bombardment of Ukraine will soon be moving to their new permanent home in the UK.

A charity appeal has now raised more than £20,000 to cover their specialist travel costs from the war-torn country.

The trio of lions will be leaving the Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre in Kyiv to head for the award-winning Yorkshire Wildlife Park.

One of them, Oleg, was rescued as a cub from private owners who fled the Sumy region during the escalation of war. He was raised by humans but longs for connections with other lions.
