Broadcaster says sorry for missing chances to act over hip-hop DJ's bullying and misogyny
THE BBC has apologised for missing opportunities “that might have led to action” over Tim Westwood's conduct while at the broadcaster.
It came after the publication of an independent report examining how bosses processed information and complaints regarding the hip-hop DJ.
Mr Westwood, 67, spent nearly two decades at the BBC before departing Radio 1 and Radio 1Xtra in 2013.
The BBC board said the report, which was ordered after allegations were published about him in 2022, "found evidence of bullying and misogynistic behaviour".
The response said: "The organisation fell short and failed people - including our own staff who had a right to expect better from us.
