BOLD GOVERNANCE OVERHAUL

- By ALLAAM OUSMAN

In a powerful signal of reform and renewal, the National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka (NOCSL) has unveiled sweeping governance changes and operational upgrades following months of internal turmoil and external scrutiny.

Under the leadership of President Suresh Subramaniam and newly appointed Secretary General Rifdy Fahmy, the NOCSL is repositioning itself as a credible, athlete-centered body that upholds international standards of transparency and integrity.

Speaking at a media briefing, President Subramaniam acknowledged that the past year had been a turbulent one for the Olympic movement in Sri Lanka. “2024 and early 2025 were particularly challenging, with serious allegations levelled against certain officials. These matters reached the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), compelling us to take swift corrective action,” he said.
