Trinity and Royal lock horns today for ultimate prize

SRI Lanka’s most prestigious schools rugby encounter between Trinity College and Royal College will be worked off at the Trinity College Rugby Stadium at Pallekele today.

This will be the first leg of the 79th Bradby Shield encounter.

First XV encounter will kick off at 4.15 p.m. The 1986 Bradby winning skipper of Trinity, Senani Gunaratne will be Chief Guest. Bimal Fernando was his deputy in that year.

For Trinity, the 2025 season has already been an extra ordinary one under, Usmaan Safraz and his team ended their 38 year old drought in winning the league.

Trinity’s league campaign was one to remember, as they beat Sumangala 49/15, Vidyartha 74/14, Joes 29/7, Thurstan 48/19 and Royal 34/12. In round 2 they beat Thomians 36/19 to retain the Canon R S De Seram trophy, Isipathana 32/10 and edged out Wesley 23/21. In their final game were beaten by St Peter’s 20/22.
